The Le Mans circuit area will soon have its own hydrogen refuelling station!

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest is going ahead with the installation of a permanent multi-vehicle hydrogen refuelling station on the area of the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit as an expansion of its aim to promote hydrogen in motor sport, the most visible expression of which is the MissionH24 programme, and beyond that in mobility in general. It will serve private cars, vehicles transporting personnel and merchandise as well as racing prototypes developed in the context of MissionH24. This station will be inaugurated in early summer.

Michelin and Symbio, new major MissionH24 partners

Michelin and Symbio, new major MissionH24 partners alongside Total.

In 2020, MissionH24 is pursuing its deployment backed henceforth by three internationally-recognised com- panies as Total has been joined in this programme by Michelin and Symbio. MissionH24, its team H24Racing and its racing cars will fly the colours of these three players from their next outing onwards.

Through Symbio, a joint-venture created with car industry parts supplier Faurecia, Michelin is now a leading partner in the MissionH24 project. By reinforcing its involvement, the French tyre manufacturer is joining Total, the programme’s reference partner since last season.

MissionH24’s aim is to accelerate zero-emission mobility through motor racing. A project which was launched by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, the organiser of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and GreenGT, a trail-blazing company in high-powered electric-hydrogen mobility. MissionH24 was founded in 2018 when the LMPH2G electric-hydrogen prototype designed by GreenGT, already with technical backing from Michelin and Symbio, ran in public for the first time.

The programme is preparing the ground for the arrival of electric-hydrogen prototypes at the start of the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans in their own dedicated category. MissionH24 is aiming for zero-emission racing and decarbonised mobility.

Total, Michelin and Symbio’s all-out involvement in MissionH24 marks the new dimension of this ecotechnical programme which, this season as in 2019, will see the LMPH2G and the new prototype destined to replace it carrying out a succession of development and performance tests as well taking part in race weekends.

H24Racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual with BWT

The 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, which will take place next week-end on 13-14 June, will bring together 200 drivers from the motor sport and esports world elite at the wheel of simulators. 50 crews have entered for this new event.

The LMPH2G, the MissionH24 programme’s electric-hydrogen prototype, has been specially chosen as the Leading Car and Safety Car of the race. The LMPH2G will unleash the competitors on the track and intervene in the race whenever necessary.

At the wheel of the LMPH2G will be one of its current test drivers, Olivier Lombard, and professional sim racer, Aurélian Mallet who will be in the thick of the action in the most spectacular phases of the race.

For this event the MissionH24 prototype will fly the colours of an additional partner: BWT, Best Water Technology, one of the European leaders in the field of water treatment. The Austrian company that’s heavily involved in motor sport, in Formula 1 in particular, is also sharing the MissionH24 entry for the energy transition for mobility and is underlining this by its participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual.

A new prototype for H24Racing this summer

3rd January 2020
A new electric-hydrogen prototype (currently under construction) designed over the past few months by the H24Racing team will take to the track this summer in the MissionH24 colours.

The new car will be much more than an evolution of the LMPH2G and affirms the Automobile Club de l’Ouest’s and GreenGT’s determination to accelerate the development of electric-hydrogen-powered racing cars as their aim is to introduce a dedicated category at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This 2020 model will mark a new step forward in terms of performance and in all the technical areas including aerodynamics, ground links, the powertrain, autonomy, etc.

This new prototype (as well as its name) will be unveiled during the summer. It will immediately undertake an intensive test programme.
